SSC has supplied and installed all inner doors and glass partitions in the new building of Malmö University called Orkanen. The building is housing the School of Teacher Education and the main library. The order from German construction company Heitkamp is worth SEK 13 million. - It’s very positive that SSC both supplied and installed all the doors, says Lars Berger, Dil Bau, project manager for the construction of Orkanen. This construction project, worth a SEK 600 million, had participants from several countries. The design was created by Swiss architect firm Diener & Diener. Proprietor was DIL Nordic AB, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank Group, and the main contractor was the German firm Heitkamp who made their début in the Swedish construction market. They carried out the project in association with another German company, Martin Oetken Norden AB. - This was the first time we have worked with a German constructor on Swedish ground. It’s been an exciting and instructive experience, says Magnus Lindgren, salesman at SSC. Intelligent Doors SSC delivered and installed approximately one thousand massive wooden doors and glass partitions in Orkanen. - Of these, about half are intelligent doors that, for example, can be remotely controlled, says Thomas Zellner, fitter at SSC. He notes that there are differences between how a construction site is run in Sweden and Germany. - The Germans are much more hierarchic than we are used to. There’s also less coordination between sub-contractors. What we can learn from the Germans is to optimise documentation of the development of the project, says Thomas Zellner. The doors used in Orkanen are 2.4 meters high and furnished with black laminate and have doorframes in metal. This kind of doorframe that will facilitate additional installations of “intelligent doors” is new for SSC. - “SSC´s part of the construction has worked out very well”, Lars Berger concludes. |
