Cutting-edge investment for 10 millions in SSC Trätrappor factory
| The demand for wooden stairways is rapidly increasing in Scandinavia. This applies both to the production of new homes, which is increasing greatly, and within the renovated building sector. To handle such an order SSC Trätrappor is now investing 10 million SEK in its factory in Norsjö. The largest part of the investment consists of two new CNC-run cutters including additional equipment for six million SEK all together. - This investment gives us a quicker flow through the factory. Our customers pay us to refine our products not to move them between different machines, says Bengt Lindgren, managing director of SSC Trätrappor.
In 2004 SSC Trätrappor reported a profit of 7.8 million SEK, of which 1 million was passed on to the employees as gain sharing. -And this year will give at least as much, Bengt Lindgren reveals. | | Bengt Lindgren, managing director SSC Trätrappor |
| SSC Trätrappor has made an offensive on the Scandinavian market by building a number of exhibition halls with retailers for the private market. - Today we have six retailers in Sweden and five in Norway. Additionally, we have an agent in Denmark who is making an offensive towards the entire Danish market, Bengt Lindgren continues. | | He is convinced that the positive trend for stairways will continue for many more years. - Numerous people have realised that the stairway is one of the most important pieces of furniture in the house and therefore they put money into creating a more attractive stairway solution. The increasing demand for exclusively designed stairways in exclusive materials is a sign of this, Bengt Lindgren says. In an early stage SSC Trätrappor used CNC-controlled milling cutters in its production line. As early as 1987 the first multi-operation machine was installed in the factory. Today the company uses seven CNC-controlled machines to produce stairway components. - One of them is now being taken out of operation and instead we are installing two new specially tailored cutters, one for stairs and the second for notch boards, says Urban Malmbom, purchasing manager SSC Trätrappor. When it comes to production of steps this reorganization means that only one machine is needed where earlier four machines and transfer between them were needed. -In addition to more rational production and increased capacity we further improve the fitting and precision, Urban Malmbom adds. The machines are tailor-made for SSC Trätrappor’s production and are produced by Italian C.M.S. -The milling cutters are five-axle, which makes more efficient production details with complex geometry possible, for example spiral formed handrails, says Urban Malmbom. The other parts in the investment package, of approximately 10 million SEK, consist of improved grinding equipment in the surface treatment and an additional CNC-controlled cutter for production of stairways when the new machines are up and running. -With these investments we are well prepared to handle today’s increased pressures and are ready for future expansion, Bengt Lindgren ends. | | More information: Bengt Lindgren, managing director, SSC Trätrappor, 0918-25815, 070-667 56 70 SSC is the leading supplier of joinery products such as windows, doors, stairs and special carpentry in Scandinavia.
