SSC supplies interior for Torso Meeting
HSB Malmö is creating a conference facility, Torso Meeting, on the 53rd and 54th floors of the new landmark in the Öresund region, Turning Torso. SSC has been engage to build and fit the interior in both Torso Meeting and the reception area at the entry level of the building. SSC is also supplying the interior doors to the rental apartments and front covers to the core of the building.
”Torso Meeting will be one of the most exclusive conference facilities in Europe. That’s why our quality demands on the interior are so high”, says Ingvar Nohlin, project manager for Turning Torso.

With its 190 metres, Turning Torso will be the highest building in Sweden and one of the highest residential buildings in Europe. To start with, the two top floors of Turning Torso were meant to also be filled with apartments. But HSB has had a rethink and are instead creating two conference floors, one with interior in maple and the other in pear wood. The conference floors are to be ready in February 2006.
”Torso Meeting will probably be used mainly for

product introductions, board meetings and press conferences”, believes Nohlin.

SSC has been entrusted with building the interiors for the conference floors.
”This is a prestigious order that shows we’re at the leading edge of wood interiors”, says Christer Hedström from the sales department at SSC Skellefteå.
”An important reason for choosing SSC to be a supplier is that they’ve got the capacity to handle such a large and special order. The biggest problem with the interior is the complicated geometry”, Nohlin explains.

SSC’s strengths as a subcontractor can be seen clearly in a project of this size.
”That our all-in contract also includes assembly gives a number of advantages. Our fitters are experienced with our products and can perform the work in the best and most efficient way – from beginning to end”, says Hedström.

SSC’s order book for Turning Torso also includes building the reception area at the entry level and the interior doors for the rental apartments and front covers for the core of the building.
”The doors are all of 250 centimetres high, which is to increase the admission of light into the apartments. SSC’s doors were the ones that suited this environment the best”, Nohlin explains.
”The experience I have of SSC from when I was at NCC is that they deliver the correct quality at the right time. SSC has accumulated a credibility reserve”, Monrad Handal, responsible for purchasing to Turning Torso concludes.
