Guaranteed silence gives SSC Öhns order for millions
|
|
| Never before has SSC Öhns Snickeri AB in Umeå had such a good order stock. Peab AB has ordered glass partition systems for 2 million SEK to the new police station in Helsingborg. And Skanska Sverige AB has ordered glass partitions to Schenker’s new offices in Gothenburg for 1.8 million. ”One important factor in our success is that we are the first in Sweden to be able to guarantee silent rooms with triple-glass partitions”, says Sverker Bäckström, owner and managing director at SSC Öhns.
Things are buzzing at SSC Öhns at the moment. Deliveries have just started of glass partitions to Skanska's refurbishment of a 10,000 square-metre building in Lilla Bommen, Gothenburg, which will house Schenker's new offices. The building is owned by AFA Sjukförsäkring. ”As the building work is taking place in the city centre, our logistics must work perfectly if we’re not to cause problems with the traffic", says Kenneth Johansen, sales rep at SSC Skellefteå AB. SSC Öhns’ glass partition system, which in this particular case has a carcass of MDF with birch exterior and has been given the characteristic Silence trademark, is being used for 180 new office cubicles, conference room and group rooms. ”An important reason for us choosing SSC's glass partition system is that it’s easy to assemble. It’s worked really well. SSC also managed to deliver a large number of glass partitions in a short time. It took only three weeks from signing the contract until the first deliveries started. Since then it’s just kept rolling with one or two deliveries a week”, Magnus Franzén, project engineer with Skanska Region Hus Göteborg tells us. | Sverker Bäckström, VD

| SSC Öhns has its own assembly system that the builders like. ”Glass partitions are delivered ready-glazed from the factory. The individual partitions are placed on a sole plate that is covered with skirting board. That’s why we only need cover mouldings on the transitions between glass partition and adjoining wall", Bäckström explains.
| Another new order arrived from Peab, which is building a new police station in Helsingborg for around 300 million SEK with room for 600 police employees. All the offices are being fitted with sound insulation classed sliding doors Model Silence 20 with oak exterior. The developer is the Norrporten real estate company. ”SSC was the only supplier that could guarantee the noise reduction in sliding doors that we, the developer and the police demanded”, says Bratislav Marjanovic, supervisor at Peab Sweden.

The secret is a patented glass moulding machined into the wooden frame and which seals the panes of glass by clamping the glass and eliminating all the noise. ”We can guarantee a noise reduction of up to 45 decibel. The police station in Helsingborg requires a reduction of 20 decibel", says Johansen. The high influx of orders means SSC Öhns must take on a number of temporary staff. ”Hopefully it can lead to new permanent jobs”, concludes Bäckström as he picks up the telephone. After finishing his conversation, Bäckström declares SSC has been given a new order for Silence glass partitions worth 500,000 SEK to the school administration offices at Dragonskolan in Umeå.
