SSC has entered into a sponsorship deal with the Sunnanå SK sports club. For the coming season, Hanna Marklund, Tiffeny Millbrett and the other players in the ladies’ football team, playing in the top flight of Swedish ladies’ football, will be wearing the SSC logotype on their shorts. ”It feels appropriate to support ladies’ football, which is growing strongly in popularity in Sweden”, says Peter Forsséll, office manager at SSC Skellefteå AB. Sunnanå has made several significant signings for this season. Hanna Marklund’s return after five seasons with local rivals Umeå IK to play with sisters Carolina and Mirjam again will give added stability to the team. Sunnanå has also succeeded in enticing the highly merited American international Tiffeny Millbrett to the club. She has won gold in the Olympics as well as the World Cup, and has played 199 internationals for the USA national team. ”Tiffeny is the most highly merited football player that has ever played in the north of Sweden, including men’s teams”, says Inger Arnesson, Sunnanå SK’s club administrator. By the end of June, the German international midfielder Bianca Rech will also have joined up. In addition to Hanna Marklund, Tiffeny Millbrett and Bianca Rech, Sunnanå has another four internationals in the squad. They are Magdalena Esseryd and Madde Eklund, who play in the U21 national team, plus Anna Bodén and Linnea Gjersvold, both U19 internationals. Tough league Inger Arnesson believes Sunnanå will do well in the league this year. ”Third place behind Umeå and Malmö is wide open and we can be one of the teams battling for that position. But it’s a close division and it’ll be hard work getting that high up. She hopes the signing of two world-class players will attract more spectators to home matches and welcomes SSC’s initiative of sponsoring the club. ”Sunnanå’s ladies play in places where we work and where our customers are. It’ll be good exposure of our trademark and we wish Sunnanå all the best and hope they achieve their goals”, Peter Forsséll concludes.
