| Demand for quality interiors for public settings is growing rapidly. At SSC production is running flat out to meet the high level of orders. New customers include Örebro County Council, which has enlisted SSC to supply interior joinery for the new intensive care unit at Örebro University Hospital (USÖ). “Quality is crucial, and the manufacturer has to be able to guarantee deliveries to meet building deadlines,” says Håkan Nyström, project manager with Landstingsfastigheter, the council’s property management company in Örebro.
The economy is showing steady growth, and this is reflected in the demand for interior joinery. “The pressure has really been on for the last six months, especially since the start of this year,” says Einar Söderström, sales representative at SSC. “What makes this project special is that it gives us a foothold in Örebro, as we’ve not had orders from there before.”
The project involves the complete interior renovation of the intensive care department to bring it up to modern standards and install the latest technology. “The interior has to meet high standard and have long-term durability. Quality is important since the level of wear is very high in this sector,” says project manager Håkan Nyström. He also stresses the importance of reliable delivery. Renovating such an important department is a big project, and nothing must go wrong.
SSC will make delivery to USÖ in mid-February. There is also a smaller order for a hospital in Lindesberg. “But the real achievement for us is naturally the opportunity to enter a new market and show what we can do,” says Einar. He adds that other districts have also been opened up recently, including Lund University Hospital. It is estimated that SSC’s production of interior joinery, primarily for hospitals, has grown by 30 to 40 per cent since 2004. “It’s a positive trend that looks set to last, and in 2006 we will be actively canvassing more county councils,” says Einar Söderström.
