What is it that characterises a project specialist in the eyes of the customer? What are the most important elements for stakeholders such as architects, developers and contractors? Set out below are opinions relating to three major projects – Stockholm Waterfront, McDonalds in Denmark and Pizza Hut in Norrköping.
“We were looking for a contractor that could offer the right price and the capacity to manage such an extensive project, and SSC was able to do this,” says Bengt Strandlund, Production Manager at Peab Sverige AB, turnkey contractor for the offices and pure construction contractor for the hotel and conference premises in the Stockholm Waterfront development.
The customer benefits and expertise that SSC supplied in this enormous project can be expressed in this liberatingly simple way. And of course there was a need for high levels of expertise and capacity. Within the project, SSC supplied and installed everything from masses of doors (more than 800) to fireproof panels, bespoke interiors, coffee stations and reception desks.
The level of ambition as regards the quality of the execution and the finish was extremely high in the Waterfront project, requiring many special solutions. This covered everything from integral lighting to exciting combinations of glass and wood. Regarding the end result, Torbjörn Berglund, project manager for the client Jarl Asset Management, says:
“The thing that visitors and guests notice is the surface layer, and in this case this is of top quality thanks to SSC’s efforts. They have also been there for us at all times, resolving any problems in an exceptional manner. SSC have been our ‘heroes’ in this construction project.”
Flexibility is becoming an increasingly important characteristic if you want to achieve the title of project specialist. In major renovation projects in particular, the supplier has to be able to split up its work – starting and stopping and starting over again – so that the customer does not lose any income. This was clear when McDonalds renovated a number of restaurants.
“The restaurant owner wanted to stay open as much as possible during the renovation work, so the job had to be performed in stages,” says Ingemar Fredberg, Managing Director of the turnkey contractor Fredbergs.
Fredbergs was extremely satisfied with SSC’s deliveries of its market-leading fireproof panels, whose special protective treatment provides almost unique levels of fire protection.
“Yes, despite the distance, they deliver on time and their products maintain a high quality level,” attests Ingemar Fredberg.
This high quality is something that Pizza Hut also emphasises, following SSC’s supply and installation of bespoke interiors for the company’s new restaurant in Norrköping.
“They proved to be both efficient and meticulous. Restaurants are tough environments, and it is important to take care with all the details,” says Björn Källström.
SSC is naturally proud of the positive testimonies from these projects and customers.
“This shows that our specialisation on the project market has been appreciated and successful. That we have the products, services and above all the high levels of skill that are required. This feels truly inspiring for our continued efforts. We are satisfied but we want more, and we are constantly working to improve even more for our project customers,” says Peter Forsséll, Managing Director of SSC.
