Project: New Sheltered Accomodation/Hospital for the NHS

Both Margate and Tenterden Care Homes were new build projects for the Kent NHS. Both buildings were designed to provide sheltered accommodation and specialist care for the elderly. Again SSC’s “kopplad” window was chosen. The reasons for this were twofold: the sound attenuating properties were again important but the option of placing a Venetian blind between the glazing units was extremely beneficial. The integral Venetian blind offers considerable shielding from the sun, reducing the standard 80% penetration down to at least 40% making both living and working environments considerably more comfortable.
